Eddy Current Tube Testing (E.C.T)

Eddy current tube testing is a high speed & versatile method for the inspection of non-ferrous tubing. The test is performed with a probe that produces an electromagnetic field in the tube. When the probe is pulled across a discontinuity, the electromagnetic field is distorted. This distortion in the magnetic field changes the coil impedance that is related to the discontinuity.

Technique capability:

  • Only non-ferrous tubes can be inspected.
  • Detects discontinuities such as corrosion, erosion, wear, pitting, baffles cuts and cracks.
  • Inspection speed 2m/s.
  • Productivity 800 tubes per shift (may differ based on site condition).
