Inspection Engineer

Inspection Engineer executes appropriate Inspection / NDT plan, Prepares scope of work for major, modular turnarounds, Determines replacement, repair requirements and remaining service life of equipment and piping based  on evaluation of inspection findings and operating condition, Provides recommendations with analysis of equipment conditions and corrective/ preventive action, Prepares Inspection Test Plan, QA/QC plan for procurement of Capital plant equipment, Issues clearance certificates and reports of equipment after inspection and testing. Carries out inspection and testing of all static equipment of process plants, storage and pipelines system.

The Inspection engineer is reporting to the Inspection Manager.


An Oil Refinery Located in Mostorod Area , Cairo , EGYPT, with capacity 140,000 BPD, Operates different units as NHT, CCR, DHT, HCU, HPU, VDU, DCU, DEU, Sour Water Stripping Unit , Amine Treatment and Regeneration Unit, Utilities, Sulfur Recovery Unit , and TGU.

  1. Interact with the RBI department to provide support for Risk Based Inspection and Reliability Based Mechanical Integrity implementation projects.
  2. Coordinate various Groups responsible for executing Inspection, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, NDT Testing and Reliability Engineering.
  3. Ensure that all Welding works are defined in accordance with standard specifications and recognized codes/standards.
  4. Responsible for formulating and implementing Company’s inspection strategies and projects to support the organizational goals.
  5. Responsible for solving Inspection-related problems through the application of advanced analytical and innovative problem solving techniques.
  6. Develop and monitor implementation of Inspection plans, programs, policies, procedures, standards and methodologies.
  7. Establish protective contracts with external inspection agencies and evaluate their performance against specifications.
  8. Maintaining HSE standards.
  9. Verify and evaluate NDT according to Codes, Standards and Specification (interpretation of RT films, UT, PT, MT& PMI evaluation).
  10. Verify that preheating & post weld heat treatment has been done satisfactory.
  11. Supervision of NDT & PWHT process, follow up for repair weld and taking class for welders about the repair welds monitoring and controlling repairs.
  12. Supervision of painting & coating and holiday testing.
  13. Review and check test package (as built drawing, punch list, P&ID , NDT reports, welding summary, calibration equipment’s reports used in hydro test and hydro test reports) .

  1. Good knowledge of computers skills
  2. English language speak and written
  3. Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
  4. Certified API 510, API 570, API 653 and API 580.
  5. Certified CSWIP 3.1 / CWI Welding Inspector.
  6. Certified Level II NDT.
  7. Familiar with latest API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, TEMA, NACE codes / standards.


YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  Position requires 8-10 years of experience in the area of operational plant maintenance. Experience in hydrocarbon processes, people supervision, contracts administration and budgeting control is also required.  


TYPE OF EDUCATION: must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Metallurgy Engineering.
